- In a small bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Stir gently and let it sit for about 10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, add flour, egg, salt, and butter. Pour in the yeast mixture and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl and let rise covered for 60 to 90 minutes until doubled in size.
- Toast chopped pecans in a skillet for 3-5 minutes. In a saucepan, melt maple syrup, brown sugar, butter, milk, and salt.
- Mix filling ingredients until smooth and spread over rolled dough.
- Roll out the dough, cut into strips, and arrange in the pan over pecan topping.
- Cover shaped buns and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool in the tray for 5 minutes before serving.
