- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, and garlic powder until blended.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs, about 2-3 minutes.
- Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese evenly throughout the dough.
- Create a well in the dry mixture and pour in the buttermilk. Stir gently until just combined.
