Step-by-Step Instructions for Juicy Meatball Subs
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground beef, egg, seasoned bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to mix until just combined. Roll into 1-inch meatballs and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the meatballs for about 20 minutes until browned and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 160°F.
  3. Transfer the meatballs to a saucepan. Pour marinara sauce over the meatballs and let simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes.
  4. While simmering, preheat the broiler. Spread garlic butter inside each hoagie roll, place on a baking sheet, and broil for about 3 minutes until golden.
  5. Assemble the subs by placing four meatballs inside each roll and spooning additional marinara sauce on top. Sprinkle Italian cheese blend generously.
  6. Return the assembled subs to the broiler for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve immediately with extra marinara sauce on the side.
