Preparation
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour, water, and sugar. Stir until smooth, about 5 minutes. Knead for 3 minutes until soft. Cover and let rest for 15 minutes.
- Divide the dough into 12 pieces. Roll into balls, flatten into discs about 3 inches wide. Place a teaspoon of filling in the center and seal tightly.
- Roll each filled ball in white sesame seeds to coat.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F. Test oil with a piece of dough.
- Fry balls in hot oil for 4-5 minutes until golden brown, turning occasionally.
- Remove fried balls with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Let cool slightly.
- Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar or with honey on the side.
