Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, about 7–10 minutes.
  3. Stir in the chili beans, diced tomatoes, and chili powder. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Transfer the chili mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the top and layer tater tots evenly on top.
  5. Bake for 30–35 minutes until the tater tots are golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
  6. Let the casserole cool for about 5 minutes before serving garnished with sour cream and chopped green onions.
