Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef with the chopped onion for 7-10 minutes until browned and onions are soft, then drain excess fat.
- Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and sour cream into the beef mixture, and add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, mix thawed hashbrowns with melted butter and 1 cup of cheddar cheese until well coated.
- In the baking dish, layer half of the hashbrowns, then the beef mixture, and layer remaining hashbrowns on top, finishing with another cup of cheddar cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
