Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Peel the Granny Smith apples and slice them into fry-sized strips, approximately ¼ inch thick.
  2. Combine the flour and apple pie spice in a medium bowl until blended. In another bowl, beat the eggs.
  3. Dip each apple strip first into the flour mixture, then into the eggs, and back into the flour mixture again.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 325°F (160°C) and spray the basket with cooking oil.
  5. Arrange the apple fries in a single layer, spray the tops with oil, and cook for 5 minutes, then flip and cook another 5 minutes.
  6. Remove the apple fries and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar while warm, and prepare the vanilla icing.
