  • 1 teaspoon Dried Basil or fresh basil
  • Red Pepper Flakes optional

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions for Ground Turkey Orzo
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add 1 pound of ground turkey, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  3. Stir in 1 chopped onion and 1 diced red bell pepper, cooking for another 5-7 minutes until translucent.
  4. Mix in 3 minced garlic cloves and cook for 1 minute. Add 1 teaspoon each of dried oregano and dried basil.
  5. Pour in a 14-ounce can of diced tomatoes and 8 ounces of tomato sauce. Season with salt and pepper, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Add 1 cup uncooked orzo and 2 cups chicken broth, ensuring orzo is submerged. Bring to simmer.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese until melted.
  9. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
