Ingredients

For the Dish
  • 2 cups Fresh Broccoli You can substitute with frozen broccoli, just thaw and drain before use.
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil Feel free to use any vegetable oil if preferred.
  • 1 pound Extra Lean Ground Turkey Swap it with ground chicken or a plant-based option for a different twist.
  • 1 and ⅓ cups of Orzo Pasta Quinoa or small pasta shapes can be used as alternatives.
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon Pepper Seasoning You may also replace it with garlic powder or Italian herbs for variety.
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon Mustard Substitute with yellow mustard or omit for a milder flavor.
  • ¼ cup Fresh Lemon Juice Fresh lemon juice is best, but lime juice or vinegar can work too.
  • 2 and ½ cups Chicken Broth Vegetable broth is a great option for a vegetarian version.
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Olive oil or a dairy-free alternative can be a substitute.
  • 1 cup Milk Any type of milk works, including plant-based options.
  • 2 ounces Shredded Parmesan Cheese Nutritional yeast is a suitable vegan alternative if needed.

Equipment

  • Large Skillet

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by cutting fresh broccoli into bite-sized pieces. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the broccoli and sauté for 5-6 minutes until bright green and slightly charred.
  2. Push the sautéed broccoli to the side of the skillet. Add ½ tablespoon of olive oil and 1 pound of extra lean ground turkey. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  3. Stir in 1 and ⅓ cups of orzo pasta, mixing well with turkey and broccoli. Toast for 1-2 minutes until slightly golden.
  4. Mix in 2 tablespoons of lemon pepper seasoning, 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard, and ¼ cup of fresh lemon juice. Pour in 2 and ½ cups of chicken broth.
  5. Increase heat to bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook for 6-8 minutes until orzo is tender and most of the broth is absorbed.
  6. Lower heat and mix in 2 tablespoons of butter, 1 cup of milk, and 2 ounces of shredded Parmesan cheese until creamy.
  7. Gently fold in the sautéed broccoli. Serve warm and enjoy the comforting blend of flavors.
